About Open Belly
Open Belly is a podcast exploring Kansas City’s vibrant and diverse food culture. Each episode is an interview with a first-generation American restaurant owner or chef, talking about the traditional foods from their home countries they are bringing to the people of Kansas City. Our mission is to inspire listeners to break out of their comfort zone and explore new cultures, through food. We hope this podcast encourages listeners to get to know their neighbors, and of course, fill their bellies.
To break us all out of our comfort zones while exploring new foods
To share the stories of immigrant chefs in our community
To understand the complexity of communities and cultures
To encourage us all to get to know our neighbors
To use food as a way to unite our community
To understand the world from other perspectives than our own
